Power is back! We are safe and snug in our home an

Power is back! We are safe and snug in our home and now hoping everyone else is okay too. Hoping the rain stops so all the flood-affected areas stay safe and dry. 🙏🏻
It’s been a weird few days with restless nights and anxious jitters and trying to eat all the food in the fridge before it goes off, and lots of cabin fever and crankiness… but there were also some really sweet moments too. Lots of knitting, cooking, games by candlelight. ❤️ Hope everyone is okay out there. xx

It’s a really strange feeling waiting for a stor

It’s a really strange feeling waiting for a storm to arrive. The kids have been off school and there’s an anxious, jittery energy in our house. (Even Michael is cranky and he never gets cranky!!)
Quin has been holed up in our little corner office at his sewing machine all week, working on birthday crowns. It’s a labour of love, making these, and this batch is so cute. 😍They’re up online in his @corner_room_cuts shop for those of you who are interested (and they’ll be shipped out next week when it’s safe to leave the house).

Best bits on my camera roll lately 💛

1. Our baby is really no longer a baby (he turns 8 soon and he’s the tallest in his class!)
2. My bedside table right now. Loving all three. 📚
3. This game hasn’t left our dining table in weeks.
4. Received this book for my 40th and finally read it. Can’t stop thinking about it.
5. We had a sick bug go through our family and it was the pits. But we managed to get outside and go for walks to get that vitamin D.
6. New skirt from old favourite @aceandjig
7. I’ve had so much ginger and turmeric in the last few weeks, I’m surprised i haven’t turned yellow!
8. Favourite meal of the day 😋
9. I woke up and found him sitting there in the kitchen knitting 🧶 🥰
10. I shared a post on Substack yesterday with loads of tips for getting more protein into your family meals. Go have a read if you haven’t seen it yet.

One of my goals for this year is to host in-person gatherings, to connect more deeply with my online community and to share and learn from each other. I’ve organised two weekend gatherings (March 28-30 and May 23-25) at our @sandypineshouse home. Through inspiring and soulful conversations in circle (curled up on those sofas!), journaling exercises, delicious meals (cooked by Michael!) and time spent in nature, we will connect with others and rediscover ourselves!

Michael made a goal at the start of the year to us

Michael made a goal at the start of the year to use our cookbooks more and to be more adventurous in the kitchen. The results have been delicious! 😋 I’ve shared three new veggie recipes we’ve tried lately plus a new approach to using our cookbooks in a new Substack letter today. I sent a Substack newsletter out today about how lowering our expectations can help us embrace life as it is — unpredictable, imperfect, sometimes chaotic, but often more joyful than we could have planned.
In writing this I shared an example of a ritual we had when we lived in London, and to find a photo for this newsletter, I went searching through the archives for old photos of us walking in London with little kids on their balance bikes, a red Bugaboo buggy and a babe in our arms, photos I took as I followed behind. These moments feel like yesterday and also like a lifetime ago. ❤️
