Wilkie (age 6) is at that sweet age where he still really enjoys picture books, but he wants them to be really engaging or funny. He wants a good plot-based story, nothing too simple or basic. Together we choose three books each night to read at bed time and I love how deliberate he is with his choosing.
Here are 15 of his current favourite story books:
- The Bog Baby by Jeanne Willis & Gwen Millward
- Lyle, Lyle Crocodile by Bernard Waber
- Possum Magic by Mem Fox & Julie Vivas
- The Wolf, The Duck & The Mouse by Mac Barnett & Jon Klassen
- The Sea Monster by Christopher Wormell
- Moon Man by Tomi Ungerer
- Iggy Peck, Architect by Andrea Beaty
- Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst
- Sylvester and the Magic Pebble by William Steig
- Ira Sleeps Over by Bernard Waber
- The Story of Ferdinand by Munro Leaf
- A Sick Day for Amos McGee by Philip C. Stead
- The Amazing Bone by William Steig
- Olivia the Spy by Ian Falconer
- Wombat Stew by Marcia K. Vaughan
