I’ve been in America with my family — my mum, my siblings and their partners — for the last week, and it has been so wonderful. 💛

Earlier this week, at the dinner table, we got onto the topic of favourite novels. One person would mention a favourite book, the whole room would oooh and awww with the memories of that book, and then someone else would mention another book and we continued like this all evening. As everyone shared, I quickly jotted down book titles into a list on my phone, and over the course of dinner we had created a list of all-time favourite books we’ve collectively read.

Here’s the list of favourite novels (in no particular order)…

The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay
I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith
City of Thieves by David Benioff
Dune series by Frank Herbert
The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver
A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara
The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami
East of Eden by John Steinbeck
The Pillars of the Earth series by Ken Follett
The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
Player Piano by Kurt Vonnegut
Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry
Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus
Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky
Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese
A Fine Balance by Rohinton Mistry

The Red Tent by Anita Diamant

Happy reading!
